Definition: A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to the specialized maintenance and repair of trucks, buses, and other commercial and industrial vehicles. Includes instruction in diesel engine mechanics, suspension and steering, brake systems, electrical and electronic systems, preventive maintenance inspections, drive trains, gasoline engine mechanics, HVAC systems, and auxiliary equipment installation and repair.
Approval Status
The Diesel Technology Alignment was approved by the Kansas Board of Regents on February 13, 2014. Colleges are granted one year from the approval date to implement the alignment.

State Business and Industry Committee encourages all colleges to seek accreditation from National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Business and Industry supports OSH10, WorkKeys and Automotive Service (ASE) credentials in: Engines, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Brakes, Suspension and Steering.
