October is Apply Kansas Month!  Listed below are all the steps and materials you need to run a successful event for your senior class.

Step 1:  Outline the Plan

  • Set the date of your event
  • Register with Apply Kansas
  • Develop a plan, timeline & create a planning team
  • Promote the event
  • Engage volunteers & the community
  • Order your Apply Kansas Giveaways (ordering closed for 2022 campaign

Step 2: Promote your event

  • Post on all forms of communication (school website, social media, announcements, etc.)
  • Encourage sharing of events
  • Send event reminders
  • Utilize Apply Kansas logos & hashtags
  • Engage the community in sharing encouragement & supportive messages

Step 3:  Prepare your Seniors before Application Event

  • Provide classroom lessons for seniors to learn the steps, timeline & requirements needed for applications
  • Have students update their IPS postsecondary plans with any changes that were made over summer break
  • Send home worksheets to collect personal information from home to have ready for application event

*these lessons could be delivered in-person, delivered through advisory/seminar curriculum or via video with a flipped classroom concept.

Step 4:  Host your Event & Celebrate

  • Host an application day or window for virtual events
  • Ask students to share their “I Applied” pictures on social media from event
  • Share your event, and encourage student/parents/families to do the same
  • Provide FAFSA completion resources or follow up event information.
  • Student sign out survey- to gather required data- (Electronic Surveys are the easiest for you)

Step 5:  Report Event

Reporting your Apply Kansas Event data is the only requirement of participating in this program. At a minimum you’ll need to submit the following information to us at the conclusion of your event:

  • Number of seniors who submitted an application
  • Total Number of college applications submitted
  • Number of KS Public Colleges receiving applications
