In June 2005 the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) established the Retirement Plan Committee (RPC) which is responsible for all issues related to KBOR’s retirement plans, including oversight of plan investments and administration for the Mandatory Retirement Plan. The RPC reports directly to KBOR. The issues the RPC will consider may be directed by the KBOR, may arise from KBOR’s fiduciary duties, or may be initiated by the RPC itself. The RPC will meet a minimum of two times a year with the KBOR investment consultant for investment review and fund analysis and other administrative issues; however, the RPC may meet additional times as required by the issues they are addressing.

RPC membership includes one member of the Board of Regents; one member of the Council of Presidents (COPs) or designee; two members of the Council of Business Officers (COBO); three Regents institution human resource directors; and two individuals nominated from the state universities who are experts in the subject matter of investments and retirement planning. A staff person from the KBOR office will serve as a non-voting ex officio member. The chairperson of the RPC will be the Board of Regents member.

The Retirement Plan Committee meetings are public and notice will be given in accordance with the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KSA 75-4317 through 75-4320a).
