WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

The Kansas Board of Regents invites applicants to fill the position of Workforce Development Specialist.  The nine-member Kansas Board of Regents is the governing board of the state’s six universities and the statewide coordinating board for the state’s 32 public higher education institutions (six state universities, one municipal university, nineteen community colleges, and six technical colleges).

The Workforce Development Specialist works closely with the Director for Workforce Development and the Senior Director of Adult Education and Career Technical Education in meeting both state and federal initiatives.  This position is responsible to guide and track local Adult Education program reports, review and respond to informational request for Carl D. Perkins and Adult Education, organize and maintain files, update and maintain the Workforce Development webpages, coordinate committee agenda and materials, and assist in the maintenance of the Kansas Higher Education Data System in a wide range of projects designed to serve Kansas postsecondary technical education.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, superior written and verbal skills, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, high level of organization, proficiency in presentations, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team structure.  Experience at a postsecondary institution preferred.

Salary range is $40,000 to $45,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL

The Kansas Board of Regents invites qualified applicants to fill the position of Associate General Counsel.  

The nine-member Board of Regents is the governing board of the six state universities and the statewide coordinating board for the state’s 32 public higher education institutions (six state universities, one municipal university, nineteen community colleges, and six technical colleges).  The Board of Regents also regulates private and out-of-state postsecondary educational institutions.

The Associate General Counsel assists the Board’s General Counsel in providing legal advice to and otherwise providing legal representation to the Board of Regents, Postsecondary Technical Education Authority and Board of Regents staff in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Board. 

Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited school of law, be licensed to practice law in Kansas, have strong legal research and writing skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, experience in handling administrative proceedings or civil litigation, proficiency with word processing, email and presentation applications, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of five years’ experience in the practice of law, experience in higher education law, a demonstrated capacity to deliver legal advice in a complex environment and within a Board structure, and education or experience in public employee retirement and benefits law.

Salary range is $70,000 - $85,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
