CIP Name: Autobody/Collision and Repair Technology/Technician
Definition: A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, reconstruct and finish automobile bodies, fenders, and external features. Includes instruction in structure analysis, damage repair, non-structural analysis, mechanical and electrical components, plastics and adhesives, painting and refinishing techniques, and damage analysis and estimating.
The Automotive Collision & Repair Alignment was originally approved by the Kansas Board of Regents on December 16, 2009. During the 2013 summer, the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) made changes to accreditation policies and procedures resulting in the alignment changes. On May 29, 2014 the Technical Education Authority approved the amended Automotive Collision & Repair Alignment. Colleges are granted one year from the approval date to implement the alignment.

The state Business and Industry committee endorsed the ASE and/or I-CAR credentials upon completion of a Certificate A, Certificate B, Certificate C and/or AAS degree.
