REGENTS APPROVE CHARGE FOR ESU PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE

(TOPEKA) – Today the Kansas Board of Regents met via conference call and adopted the charge for the Emporia State University (ESU) Presidential Search Committee. The charge, which can be found on the Board’s website at the following link: http://kansasregents.org/resources/PDF/1306-ESUPresidentChargetotheSearchCommittee.pdf, outlines the process by which the next ESU President will be selected.

In addition, the Board directed the Search Committee to recommend to the Board a “Statement of Leadership Characteristics” or position description, which details the criteria for the position of President of ESU. This position description will be used by the Committee to present an unranked list of three to five candidates whose names will be forwarded to the Board for consideration. To assist the Committee in its search the Board has hired Witt-Kieffer, an executive search firm based in Oak Brook, Illinois. The ESU Foundation will cover the expenses related to the search process.

“I am pleased with the pace at which the search for the next President of Emporia State is moving,” said Regent Ed McKechnie of Arcadia, the Vice Chairman of the Kansas Board of Regents. “The Search Committee now has the tools it needs to begin its mission of finding the best candidates from across the nation to recommend to the Board this fall. This is an important time for the Univeristy and the Emporia community to work together to find the best leader for Emporia State to continue its great mission of service to the students and the State of Kansas.”
