Kansas technical education is a comprehensive learner-centered system that develops academic, technical, and workplace skills either for immediate employment or future career development through additional education.

CTE Unit Mission Statement 

To provide leadership for the Kansas Career and Technical Education System to meet existing and future skilled workforce needs.

Vision Statement
The vision of the CTE unit is to “lead a recognized career and technical education system that prepares a skilled workforce responsive to the immediate and emerging demands of business and industry.”

Strategy One: Develop a new State Plan for Career and Technical Education to serve as a working document to improve career and technical education initiatives within the state and meet all federal guidelines

Workforce Development

Workforce Development provides the frameworks that focus on meeting the needs of businesses with skilled workers, training, education, and employment needs of Kansas citizens. 

 

1. What is Comprehensive Workforce Development?

 

Kansas Workforce Development activities increase the employment, earnings, retention, and occupational skill attainment of participants in order to improve the quality of life, enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the State and nation’s economy. (Kansas Interagency Resource Network for Workforce Development, 2002)

 

2. What is Workforce Development in Education?

 

Kansas Board of Regents is a workforce development partner that provides training and education that meets the needs of Kansas Citizens.

 

3. Workforce Development

 

Workforce development is the art and science of preparing individuals to be contributing members of society. Effective workforce development requires a systematic approach that provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet the broad needs of the global community.
