College and Career Readiness Standards Institute II Training (March 2017)

Aligning Curriculum Resources with Standards

This is the second of three sequential College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) Math or English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) Institutes that build upon each other. Eligible CCRS Institute II participants will have successfully completed the previous CCRS Institute I strand. Institute II is required in order to continue the series. Both strands are certificate-eligible.

Dates and times for both Math and ELA Institute II trainings will be the same. To reduce program travel expenses, each strand will be offered at both Garden City* and Lawrence. A minimum of 10 participants are required for each training strand at each location. Program directors will be notified if a location does not meet the minimum number of participants. Participants WILL have the option of changing training locations. This will be the final Institute II training in FY17.

*note: this location was changed on 2/1/17

These training materials and methods are designed to help instructors organize, pace, and sequence instruction aligned with the College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards. Guided by our Kansas trainers, participants will learn how to revise instructional resources and curriculum to ensure alignment with these standards. Workshop activities will also focus on how to develop plans for implementing training and standards-based instructional tools and lessons with instructors.

Training goals:

  • Analyze the alignment of a resource with the CCR standards
  • Revise a lesson in a resource to improve its alignment with CCR standards
  • Develop plans to roll out training with the new set of CCR Standards training materials, including use of the training materials with alternate curriculum resources and working with programs to develop plans to “complete” curriculum resource(s) for instructional use.
